Handling of china

So that you enjoy a long time the service of your mother or grandmother you have to note a few things. Thus you can use the old china with caution. For this it was made.

The storage:
Usually the mistake already begin with the storage. Plates are stacked usually one on the other because the use of plate stands takes very much place up. Here it is to note that you don´t stack too many plates. The weight can break the lower plates. Furthermore the plates should be never stack into one another without protection (for example a kitchen paper) because the rough base of the plate damages the glaze of the plate in which it is standing. It must be a sufficient place between the piles so that the sensitive edges do not together-push if you take it out. Cups should not be stacked because the handles can damage the edges. If the lid from a can has got an knob you can put the lid with kitchen paper contrary on the can. In this way you can´t beat off the knob.

The use:
In my mind there is only one kind of the decoration which almost excludes the use. Here it concerns painted over glaze decorations which are in the mirror of the plates (the plate center). Generally a knife-blade should be sharply. So you don´t need to much pressure to cut the eat. Put knife rests on the table. So the cutlery must not put on the edge of plate and possibly damage these. Put between Plates on the table an protection too (see also " The storage"). One the decoration adapted napkin between the plates protects these and prevents a clatter. Please consider that the handles on tureens, cans or other pieces were always separately advisable on the body. The connections can have symptoms of old age. Since the old tureens were larger than today (2-3 litres contents in a tureen was pretty often) is also more weight in them. Therefore don´t carry these only at the handle. A microwave is generally for older table-ware taboo. You can wreck your table-ware and your microwave!

The cleaning:
Older table-ware does not belong into the dishwasher. The temperatures, the chemistry and perhaps the mechanics of the water could harm both the porcelain and the decoration. Clean the porcelain by hand with a mild detergent carefully in the wash basin. Also today decorations are manufactured which are not suitable or only conditionally for the cleaning in a dishwasher. Therefore you should inquire with the purchase whether the porcelain "dishwasher resistant" (the decoration is permanently not damaged in the dishwasher), "dishwasher fit" (it can into the dishwasher but some time the decoration is damaged) or "not dishwasher resistant" (you can´t put it into the dishwasher) is.

The restoration:
Despite all caution it can occur that a piece is damaged. Now good advice is expensive. If you love the piece and you want use it and you would not see the repair you must go to a specialist. Almost 100% of the own attempts of a repair aggravate only the condition and raise the price of the restoration by a specialist. Even only if you put the fragments together there further pieces can splitter. Collect even smallest pieces and winding these separately in kitchen paper. So protected you can put it into a box and bring it to restore. The price of the repair depends on the expenditure. It can be a expensive solution but the only way to give the piece the old good look back.

Some examples of high-quality restorations of various materials can be found, for example, on the side of the restoration studio "Arios studio" by Mr. Ario Eftekhari. Closer information you will find here: http://www.ariosatelier.de/
