Gallery of plaques from the art department
Lichte in Thuringia, a city with a long tradition in the art of the portrait painting on porcelain. 1862 were already established here the paint and modelling school, where is Carl Friedrich Lorenz the leader from 1911. Later, from 1918, he will design for the Fraureuther art department as important models as " mourning Bajazzo" , "bowl with peacock" or "sledge-ride".
1917, two years after the establishment of the art department, one decides to open an porcelain painting studio in Lichte as department III of the porcelain factory Fraureuth AG. Here they will paint gallery picture copies on table-ware, doses, vases and porcelain plaques. In this chapter I would like to show excluding porcelain plaques of the Fraureuther art department. Some of the pictures are painted on porcelain plaques which are made in Wallendorf. Other pictures are painted for or from the Fraureuth AG on plaques from the Staatliche Porzellanmanufaktur from Berlin (KPM).
